LAUREL
-
Laurus Nobilis;
Laurel belongs to Laurales familia.
It is an evergreen plant in summer
and winter. It grows mainly on the
Mediterranean coasts of our country,
the Aegean, Marmara and Black Sea
coasts and inland parts of these coasts.
The laurel, which can grow up to 6-8
meters, develops with round top and
dense branches. It has 8-10 cm long
oval and hard leaves with a shiny upper
face, wavy edges and alternating dark
green leaves. When the small yellowish
or greenish white flowers that bloom in
spring ripen, the color turns into dark
purple, single-seeded and fleshy fruits.
The body of the plant, which is rounded
and purple-brown, becomes woody
over time and turns gray in color.
